The Luverne Tigers suffered their biggest defeat since December 19, 2023 on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 64-44 defeat at the hands of Calhoun. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Luverne of the 54-49 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Calhoun's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ladarrius Thigpen led the charge by scoring nine points along with 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Robertson, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and seven assists.
Luverne dropped their record down to 10-9 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Calhoun, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Luverne will face off against Central at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Calhoun, they will head out on the road to challenge Ellwood Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ellwood Christian has now lost 17 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 9.
