The West Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 67-55 to Washington Union. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, West still got an impressive performance from Fred Stokes, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. Stokes scored a full 41.8% of West's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jaiyon Dixon was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
West has fallen quite a ways from their 21-9 record last season and are now at 2-7. As for Washington Union, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 2-7.
West will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Chavez at 3:00 p.m. on December 28th. Washington Union and Fresno Christian will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Fresno Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Washington Union in California (Fresno Christian is ranked 274th, while Washington Union is ranked 1132nd).
