Mount Ida will be defending their home turf for the first time on Friday when they go up against Magnet Cove at 7:00 PM. Mount Ida have the odds in their favor, so they'll need to guard against complacency.
While not quite a landslide, the contest between Mount Ida and Jessieville last week was still a pretty decisive one as Mount Ida wrapped it up with a 21-6 win. Senior Jonathan Lagrange, who rushed for 114 yards and 2 touchdowns, was a major factor in Mount Ida's success. In fact, with 9 tackles Lagrange was a force on both sides of the ball.
Meanwhile, it was all tied up at halftime, but Magnet Cove weren't quite Atkins's equal in the second half when they met. Magnet Cove lost to Atkins by a decisive 0-20 margin.
Mount Ida's victory lifted them to 2-0 while Magnet Cove's defeat dropped them down to 1-1. The Mount Ida defense got after the quarterback against Jessieville to the tune of 4 sacks, so Magnet Cove's offensive line better have put in some good practice this past week in preparation for the match.
