The La Canada Spartans fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the South Pasadena Tigers on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 34-27 to the Tigers. La Canada just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
La Canada's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Macky Plocher, who rushed for 113 yards, and also threw for 224 yards and three touchdowns on only 18 passes. Alan Razo was in the mix as well, providing La Canada with two touchdowns.
Jason Hong continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for South Pasadena, rushing for 327 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Hong was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards.
La Canada's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for South Pasadena, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. La Canada will take on Temple City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Temple City is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for South Pasadena, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Polytechnic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Polytechnic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 737th, while South Pasadena is ranked 328th).
