It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Gainesville Red Elephants had no problem doing just that on Friday. They strolled past South Paulding with points to spare, taking the game 46-27. Gainesville's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Gavin Hall was on fire: he rushed for 209 yards and four touchdowns. Baxter Wright was another key contributor, throwing for 238 yards and three touchdowns on only 19 passes.
Another reason for the win was Gainesville's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Zarion Harvey and Xavier Griffin who racked up five sacks between them.
Gainesville has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 11-0 record. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 28.43 points. As for South Paulding, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
Gainesville will square off against Blessed Trinity at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Blessed Trinity is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games. South Paulding does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
