Even though the Winfield Vikings have not done well against the Buhler Crusaders recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Winfield sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-41 win over the Crusaders. The win made it back-to-back wins for Winfield.
Christian Moree was nothing short of spectacular: he scored 21 points along with four blocks. Moree is crushing the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Kellen Gibson was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds.
Winfield's win bumped their record up to 2-11. As for Buhler, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.
Winfield won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. El Dorado is on an eight-game streak of home losses, the Vikings an 11-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. Buhler will take on the Orioles at TBD on Friday.
