It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Santa Fe Chiefs had no problem doing just that on Friday. They managed a 19-14 win over Rim of the World. The win was familiar territory for Santa Fe who now have four in a row.
Tariq Bush continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 128 yards and a touchdown. Bush is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played.
Despite the defeat, Rim of the World saw an underclassman step up: Tatum Ortiz rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown.
Santa Fe has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 9-3 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-8 El Rancho and 2-8 Whittier (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 26.6% over those games). As for Rim of the World, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.
Santa Fe will stay at home for another week and welcome Arrowhead Christian at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Rim of the World does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
