The Mineral County Serpents are headed away from home for the first time to square off against the Carlin Railroaders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Mineral County's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past McDermitt, posting a 62-0 win at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Serpents.
Chase Reeves was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 144 yards and five touchdowns on only ten passes. Carlin's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Leo Krantz, who threw for 252 yards and three touchdowns, and Dylan Ramirez, who gained 180 total yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Kerby, who picked up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Carlin was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 436 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wells only gained 240.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Carlin's defense and their five sacks. Wells' QB won't forget Carter Pooley anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Pooley also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up two sacks, forcing a fumble, and making three total tackles.
Everything came up roses for Mineral County against Carlin in their previous meeting back in September of 2023 as the squad secured a 66-24 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mineral County since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
