Softball Game Preview: Chowchilla Tribe vs. Hanford Bullpups

The Chowchilla Tribe will face off against the Hanford Bullpups on Friday. Hanford took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Chowchilla, who comes in off a win.

Chowchilla is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Dos Palos on Tuesday as Chowchilla made off with an 18-7 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tribe considering their one-run performance the match before.

Lexyss Sabin made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Sabin was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Diaz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Rylee Vlot was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-5.

Chowchilla always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dos Palos only posted an OBP of .423.

Meanwhile, Hanford came up short against Hanford West on Tuesday and fell 8-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Bullpups in their meetings with the Huskies: they've now lost three in a row.

Jenna Douthat made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Hanford's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Chowchilla, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Chowchilla suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Hanford when the teams last played back in March of 2015. Can Chowchilla avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
