The San Clemente Tritons waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins but they left with four. They snuck past Trabuco Hills with a 45-41 win. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points San Clemente has scored all year.
It was another big night for Chase Tolliver, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 18 rebounds. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Will Whidden, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Trabuco Hills' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sam Meza-Tallada, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Meza-Tallada hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Mowers, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.
San Clemente is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for Trabuco Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Clemente will take on San Juan Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. San Juan Hills is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for Trabuco Hills, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Capistrano Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
