Perry Traditional Academy is 0-7 against Carrick since April of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Commodores are taking a road trip to face off against the Raiders at 3:30 p.m. Perry Traditional Academy has given up an average of 19.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Friday just wasn't the day for Perry Traditional Academy's offense. They came up short against Brashear on Friday, falling 22-0. The defeat leaves the Commodores still looking for their first win of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Carrick, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past Penn Hills 14-4 on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Raiders considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Eli Wittmann made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has become a key player for Carrick: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 3-5 otherwise. Wittmann was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Riley Mares and Luzay Watson did most of the damage at the plate: Mares got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Watson went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Mares a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelly Maxwell, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Carrick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Penn Hills only posted a batting average of .250.
The win got Carrick back to even at 6-6. As for Perry Traditional Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Perry Traditional Academy suffered a grim 21-0 defeat to Carrick when the teams last played back in March. Can the Commodores avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
