The Madison Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They were the victim of a rough 68-48 defeat at the hands of Mountain Heritage. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Madison of the 66-55 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Despite the loss, Madison saw an underclassman step up: Gavin Gault scored 22 points along with three steals. That was a full 45.8% of Madison's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Blake Ray was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds.
Mountain Heritage got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaiah Adams out in front who scored 12 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Adams has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jace Loven, who scored 16 points.
Madison's loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Mountain Heritage, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.
Madison will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Owen at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Owen's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 13 matchups. As for Mountain Heritage, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Draughn at 8:00 p.m. Draughn knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Mountain Heritage likes a good challenge.
