The Seneca Red Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Atherton Ravens at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Seneca has five straight victories, Atherton has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Tuesday, Seneca beat Western 57-46.
Arionna Tunstall was a one-man wrecking crew for Seneca as she dropped a double-double on 26 points and 15 rebounds. Tunstall is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Timiah Harlan, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Atherton had to suffer through a rough 49-10 loss at the hands of Grace M. James Academy of Excellence. While losing is never fun, Atherton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while Grace M. James Academy of Excellence is ranked 94th).
Seneca has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. As for Atherton, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-13.
Seneca came up short against Atherton when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 37-30. Can Seneca avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
