Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 25-25 at halftime, Douglas Byrd was not quite Lumberton's equal in the second half on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 76-43 loss at the hands of the Pirates. While losing is never fun, Douglas Byrd can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 653rd, while Lumberton is ranked 203rd).
Purnell Swett has not been sharp recently as the team has lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season. As for Douglas Byrd, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-21.
