Vassar scored the most  points they've had  this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a bucket shy of victory  and fell  47-46 to the Genesee Wolves. The Vulcans' loss continues a  trend for the  squad, making it eight in a row.
 Despite the  defeat, Vassar saw an underclassman step up: freshman  Maya Mccloud  dropped  a double-double with 18  points and 11  boards. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for  Mccloud. The team also got some help courtesy of  Makenna McCloud, who  posted eight  points and six  rebounds.
  Averie Zinn continued  her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Genesee,  putting up 20 points in addition to five  assists and five  boards. Zinn's evening made it 36 games in a row in which  she has scored at least 15 points.  Autumn Simpson was another key player,  almost  dropping  a double-double with ten  points and nine  rebounds.
Vassar's loss dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Genesee, their victory was  their third straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 14-6.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vassar will face off against Mayville at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Genesee, they will challenge Brown City at 6:30  p.m.  on Friday. Genesee is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4  points per game  this season.
