The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Greenmen: they've now won three in a row.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Strongsville got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 23-25, 25-22.
Payton Beard paced Strongsville's offense, picking up 24 kills. Beard got some help from Gianna Grecol and her 25 assists. Finally, Amrin Paul kept Strongsville's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.
Despite the loss, Aurora still got an impressive performance from Emerson Spiesz, who had 11 digs and four assists. Spiesz is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last 23 games she's played dating back to last season.
Coincidentally, Strongsville and Aurora will both be playing Findlay the next time they take the court. The Greenmen will head out to face the Trojans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Mustangs will play them later in the day, at 12:00 p.m.
