While Newnan didn't have the best season last year (they finished 16-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Alexander by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. Newnan hasn't had any issues with Alexander recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Newnan easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-16.

Newnan found their leader in freshman Mia West, who had nine digs and two aces.

Newnan's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Alexander, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-5.

Coincidentally, Newnan and Alexander will both be playing Whitewater the next time they take the court. Alexander will head out to face Whitewater at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Newnan will play them later in the day, at 7:30 p.m.
