The Del Norte Knights were the 46-38 winner over the St. Michael's Horsemen when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Del Norte took a 42-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Michael's on Thursday.
St. Michael's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ceciliana Ruiz led the charge by scoring 11 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ruiz has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Duran, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Del Norte's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for St. Michael's, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.
Del Norte will head out on the road to face off against Sandia Prep at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. St. Michael's won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Rio Grande at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th.
