The Palisade Bulldogs were the 52-48 winner over the Grand Junction Tigers when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Palisade fell 49-40 to Grand Junction on Friday.
Palisade lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hunter Howard, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The match was Howard's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Layne Ruppelius, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grand Junction to victory, but perhaps none more so than Declan Lake, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Applegate, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Palisade's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Grand Junction, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-2.
Palisade and Silver Creek will face off at 10:30 a.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Silver Creek is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Grand Junction and Fruita Monument will face off at 1:30 p.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Fruita Monument knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Grand Junction likes a good challenge.
