Murrah is 1-0 against Lanier since August of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Murrah Mustangs are on the road again and play against the Lanier Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on October 19th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After soaring to 35 points the game before, Murrah were a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They were dealt a 35-0 loss at the hands of Madison Central. While losing is never fun, Murrah can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Madison Central is ranked ninth).
Meanwhile, Lanier's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against McComb, falling 61-6. Lanier was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-0.
Murrah has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season. As for Lanier, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6.
Everything went Murrah's way against Lanier when the teams last played back in August of 2016 as Murrah made off with a 36-13 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Murrah since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
