Softball Recap: Sports Leadership & Management Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Sports Leadership & Management waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Valley Vikings a 15-0 shutout. Considering the Bulls have won eight contests by more than ten runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Mya Schweisthal was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Sonny Johnson and Aaliyah Ulgaran did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson scored two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances, while Ulgaran scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in both of her plate appearances. Those three runs gave Ulgaran a new career-high. Nicole Carrasco was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Sports Leadership & Management always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .870. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley only posted an OBP of .100.

Sports Leadership & Management's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Valley, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-12.
