Legacy Academy is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Bosque is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Legacy Academy Silverbacks will take on the Bosque Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Legacy Academy put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They blew past Chesterton Academy 75-11 at home. While fans of Legacy Academy might be used to big wins, the 64-point margin marked the team's biggest victory yet this season.
Legacy Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Robie Turrieta, who scored 14 points along with six assists and four steals. Another player making a difference was David Lavery, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Bosque strolled past East Mountain with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 45-27. Given Bosque's advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while East Mountain is ranked 130th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bosque got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyle Morris out in front who scored 13 points. Cooper Hautau was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Legacy Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Bosque, their victory bumped their record up to 16-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Legacy Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 58.3 points per game. However, it's not like Bosque struggles in that department as they've been averaging 61.3 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Legacy Academy might still be hurting after the 86-63 loss they got from Bosque in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Legacy Academy, Aidan Lester (who scored 19 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
