Given Tucker County's advantage in MaxPreps's football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 33rd in West Virginia, while Smithsburg is ranked 168th in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The team won by holding Smithsburg to a paltry 39 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Tucker County's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Gavin Mullenax was especially locked on to Smithsburg's QB and sacked him three times.
Meanwhile, Petersburg came up short against Uniontown on Friday and fell 14-6. Petersburg has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Tucker County's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-0. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 50 points. As for Petersburg, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.
