Baseball Game Preview: Swansboro Pirates vs. White Oak Vikings

Swansboro is 8-2 against White Oak since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Swansboro will challenge White Oak at 7:00 p.m. White Oak took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Swansboro, who comes in off a win.

Swansboro barely beat Richlands the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Swansboro was the clear victor by a 9-0 margin over Richlands on Friday. The Pirates not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23, 2024.

Patrick Hollifield was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Swansboro is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 0-3 otherwise. Hollifield was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Swansboro let Josh Scott and Landen Jenkins run wild. Scott scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Jenkins scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave Scott a new career-high.

Swansboro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Richlands only posted a batting average of .043.

Meanwhile, White Oak fell victim to Croatan and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 11-0 to the Cougars. The Vikings have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Swansboro moved to 3-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for White Oak, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Swansboro took their victory against White Oak in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-0. Will Swansboro repeat their success, or does White Oak has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
