The Forest Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Belleview Rattlers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Forest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Forest picked up another tournament win on Monday. Everything went their way against North Marion as they made off with a 16-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Reagan Quinn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 11 contests.
In other batting news, Jaiden Prestipino was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Mahri Lingle, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Forest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Belleview came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Hurricanes by a score of 4-1.
Ya'Mari Reynolds spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Belleview's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Cobb, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Ally Axe was another, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Belleview pushed their record up to 11-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Forest, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Forest's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Wildcats have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Belleview, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Forest continue to outrun the ball?
Forest took their win against Belleview when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 9-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
