While it was all tied up 18-18 at halftime, the Ramsey Rams were not quite the Cliffside Park Raiders's equal in the second half on Thursday. Ramsey fell 44-37 to Cliffside Park. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Ramsey came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Cliffside Park is ranked 150th).
Cliffside Park got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Thomas Calabrese out in front who scored 14 points. Calabrese continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ken Hunter, who scored nine points along with two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Ramsey and nudges their season record down to 10-2. As for Cliffside Park, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ramsey will stay at home for another game and welcome St. Peter's Prep on January 21st. Cliffside Park will take on Kearny at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
