The Aucilla Christian Warriors fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Countryside Christian Minutemen on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Minutemen by a score of 43-40. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Aucilla Christian has suffered yet this season.
Aucilla Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lauchlin Faglie, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Georgia Lindsey was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Aucilla Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Countryside Christian only pulled down 12 offensive rebounds.
It was another big night for Samantha Keith, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and five steals for Countryside Christian. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyn Watson, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Aucilla Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Countryside Christian, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Aucilla Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Taylor County at 4:30 p.m. on January 12th. As for Countryside Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dixie County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
