On Tuesday, Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy got the win against Roanoke Valley Christian by a conclusive 17-1. The result was nothing new for the Ospreys, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Peyton Conley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Brodie Edwards was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Ryan Canipe was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Faith Christian Academy came into Thursday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over Timberlake Christian on Thursday.
Like Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, Faith Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Aaron Keesee. Throwing, Keesee didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Andrew Ploetner pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Keesee got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Ploetner went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Owen Parker, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Patrick Ploetner also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Faith Christian Academy picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 3-7. As for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Faith Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy's way against Faith Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy made off with a 14-0 win.
