Gonzalez almost dropped a triple-double on 18 points, ten rebounds, and nine steals, while Quezada scored 20 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Quezada has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Naylani Velasquez, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Sierra Grande's victory ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-8. As for Walsenburg, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sierra Grande will square off against Creede at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Creede is ranked 272nd, while Sierra Grande is ranked 273rd). As for Walsenburg, they will head out on the road to challenge La Veta at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. La Veta comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
