Despite the loss, Marshall saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jason Vidaurri almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Vidaurri a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Camacho, who posted 11 points.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Brennan, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They claimed a resounding 72-43 victory over O'Connor. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 26 points or more this season.
Brennan had a senior duo take command as Camden Cowgill went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points and Kingston Flemings had 16 points along with seven assists and five boards. The contest was Flemings' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Donovan Criss, who put up 13 points.
Brennan was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as O'Connor only racked up 12 assists.
Brennan's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.2 points. As for Marshall, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Marshall has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.5 boards per game. However, it's not like Brennan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.3 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
