Adams City (Commerce City, Colo.) will rue a missed two-point conversation against
Hinkley (Aurora, Colo.), as provided the difference in a 21-20 defeat.
The Eagles pulled ahead on a rushing touchdown, and subsequently went into halftime leading 14-6. The Thunderbirds scored the winning points with a touchdown that came in the fifth quarter.
Chance Drake was the top performer for Hinkley. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.
A 54-7 Hinkley victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The win was a nice bounce back for the Aurora school, which lost to Montrose last week, 60-0.
Hinkley (1-4) goes up against Rangeview in a 5A Aurora game matchup next week, while Adams City (0-5) locks horns with Denver East also in a 5A Aurora game.
