It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Martin Tigers ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They escaped with a win against Roma by the margin of a single free throw, 27-26. The score was all tied up 13-13 at the break, but Martin was the better team in the second half.
Martin can attribute much of their success to Priscilla Torres, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Torres has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.
Martin is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 16-18 record this season. As for Roma, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 23-12 record this season.
Martin will be playing in front of their home fans against the Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Juarez-Lincoln has now lost 15 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 18. As for Roma, they will head out on the road to take on the Lobos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Palmview has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
