The Oakley Plainsmen entered their tilt with the St. Francis Indians with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Oakley walked away with a 65-53 win over the Indians on Tuesday. This was payback for Oakley, who suffered a 40-36 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Oakley was led to victory by Justice Booker and Jade Beckman. Booker dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, while Beckman almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Beckman is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Emma Mandeville, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
The victory got Oakley back to even at 8-8. As for St. Francis, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-14.
Oakley will be playing in front of their home fans against the Broncos at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Russell is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for St. Francis, they will head out on the road to challenge the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Quinter presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Indians in Kansas (the Bulldogs are ranked 128th, while the Indians are ranked 332nd).
