The Girard Yellowjackets are on the road again on Friday and play against the Eisenhower Knights at 7:27 p.m. on October 27th.
Last Friday, Girard had to suffer through a rough 49-14 loss at the hands of General McLane. Girard was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.
Meanwhile, Eisenhower had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 28-14 victory over Iroquois.
Eisenhower's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tucker Lindell, who rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Lindell was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 56 yards. Eisenhower also got a significant boost from Logan Penley, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 93 yards.
Girard's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.0 points per game. As for Eisenhower, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Girard came up short against Eisenhower in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 13-7. Thankfully for Girard, Benji Bauer (who rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
