You can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely First Flight's strategy against Holmes on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that First Flight blew Holmes out of the water with a 76-42 final score. Mason Dobie and Burke Powers were among the main playmakers for First Flight as the former scored 17 points and the latter scored 16 points. Dobie is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last three games he's played. Jason Mayou was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Pasquotank County lost a heartbreaker to Currituck County when they met back in February of 2023, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. Pasquotank County took a 75-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of Currituck County. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the defeat, Pasquotank County had strong showings from Tristan Peterson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds, and Brandon Smith, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and five blocks. Peterson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayon Harris, who scored seven points.
First Flight's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-9. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Pasquotank County, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.
First Flight was able to grind out a solid victory over Pasquotank County in their previous meeting back in January, winning 74-61.
