On Friday, the Regis Jesuit Raiders faced the Rock Canyon Jaguars in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Regis Jesuit fell just short of Rock Canyon by a score of 87-84. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (59), Regis Jesuit still had to take the loss.
Regis Jesuit's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damarius Taylor, who scored 31 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taylor has scored all season. Alec Roumph was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
It was another big night for Macoy Terry, who scored 27 points along with eight assists and six rebounds for Rock Canyon. Terry hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Kasen Lehman, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Regis Jesuit's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Rock Canyon, their victory was their 15th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3.
Regis Jesuit will take on Mountain Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Vista will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Rock Canyon, they will head out on the road to square off against Legend at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Legend will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Rock Canyon is ranked sixth).
