With a playoff game on the line, the Alva Goldbugs rose to the challenge on Friday. They managed a 28-23 victory over Kingston. The victory was familiar territory for Alva who now have three in a row.
Lantz Mathers got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 244 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Mathers was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards.
Alva has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Kingston, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-2.
Alva will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Kiefer. Kiefer will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. Kingston does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
