The Smithfield Packers will head out to take on the Lafayette Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Smithfield is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Bruton with a sharp 19-4 win on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

The team relied heavily on Nick Gaspar, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chase Darden, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI.
Smithfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .613. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Lafayette sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over Warhill on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won seven in a row.
Brady Isaksen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Quinn Walton was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Lafayette is undefeated when Walton posts two or more runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Baum Hogge was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Smithfield's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7. As for Lafayette, their record now sits at an identical 6-7.
Smithfield skirted past Lafayette 8-6 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Packers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
