The Kamiak Knights will venture away from home to square off against the Snohomish Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
While Kamiak's win against Monroe wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Kamiak had just enough and edged out Monroe 13-12 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted since May 9, 2024.
Kamiak got a massive performance out of Gabby Veighey, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Emma Stansfield was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Snohomish came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by an 11-4 margin over the Grizzlies. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Panthers have posted against the Grizzlies since March 13, 2018.
Abby Edwards made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Edwards was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Taylor Ward and Hannah Siegler did most of the damage at the plate: Ward went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Siegler scored two runs while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave Siegler a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kamryn Best, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Snohomish always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Snohomish's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Kamiak, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Kamiak might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from Snohomish in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. Can Kamiak avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
