Wetumpka has gone 9-1 against Benjamin Russell recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wetumpka Indians will be playing in front of their home fans against the Benjamin Russell Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wetumpka has 13 straight wins, Benjamin Russell has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Wetumpka took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Baker, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Wetumpka had just enough and edged out Baker 7-6.
Lily Davenport was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Kyla Richardson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Wetumpka kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Benjamin Russell challenged Auburn on Thursday. Benjamin Russell came up short against Auburn, falling 11-5.
Arionna Ware made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyleigh Leonard, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Wetumpka's victory bumped their record up to 14-1. As for Benjamin Russell, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Wetumpka has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .482. However, it's not like Benjamin Russell struggles in that department as they've averaged .459. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
