Abbi Hicks made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Hicks was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Meredith Hambric looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Emma Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Meanwhile, Keller Central lost 20-3 to Southlake Carroll on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Chargers in their meetings with the Dragons: they've now lost nine in a row.
Byron Nelson pushed their record up to 16-11-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Byron Nelson took their win against Keller Central when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 13-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcat since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
