Timber Lake has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Kadoka Kougars at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Timber Lake's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
Even though Timber Lake has not done well against Sully Buttes recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, Timber Lake made off with a 66-65 victory over Sully Buttes. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meanwhile, Kadoka's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 44-43 to Jones County. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Kadoka in their matchups with Jones County: they've now lost three in a row.
Timber Lake pushed their record up to 5-4 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for Kadoka, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Timber Lake and Kadoka were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but Timber Lake came up empty-handed after a 55-54 loss. Can Timber Lake avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
