Softball Game Preview: Fredericksburg Billies vs. La Vernia Bears

For the second straight game, Fredericksburg will face off against La Vernia. The Billies will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Bears at 4:00 p.m. Fredericksburg will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Fredericksburg is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past La Vernia 14-3. Considering the Billies have won 14 games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ava Stuewe made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with three RBI and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brindle Wolfe, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Makenna Duecker, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Fredericksburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in nine consecutive matchups.
