Donovan has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Grace Christian Academy Crusaders at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Donovan took a serious blow against Beecher, falling 81-36. Donovan was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-15.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ty Miller, who scored 8 points. Griffen Walters was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Grace Christian Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 60-45 to Grant Park. Grace Christian Academy has struggled against Grant Park recently, as their game on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Grace Christian Academy's loss came about despite a quality game from Sam Marquardt, who scored 19 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Marquardt is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Reynolds, who scored 14 points.
Their wins bumped Donovan to 3-5 and Beecher to 8-0.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's match: Donovan have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 5.2 threes per game. It's a different story for Grace Christian Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 4 per game. Given Donovan's sizeable advantage in that area, Grace Christian Academy will need to find a way to close that gap. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
Everything came up roses for Donovan against Grace Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 76-29 win. Will Donovan repeat their success, or does Grace Christian Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
