After flying high against the Manalapan Braves last Friday, the Howell Rebels came back down to earth. Howell took a 47-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Howell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Panthers are ranked 35th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Middle Township to victory, but perhaps none more so than Abbey Cappelletti, who scored 16 points. It was the first time this season that Cappelletti scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Mckenzie Palek, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Howell's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Middle Township, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-6.
Howell will head out on the road to face off against the Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Middle Township, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Cougars at 12:00 p.m. on February 4th.
