After flying high against the Hemingford Bobcats on Thursday, the Mitchell Tigers came back down to earth. Mitchell was outmatched by Alliance on the road and fell 46-14. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mitchell has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Mitchell saw an underclassman step up: Addy Bowlin scored five points along with seven rebounds. Bowlin scored a full 35.7% of Mitchell's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Mitchell struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
It was another big night for Jaelynne Clarke, who dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 11 rebounds, and ten steals for Alliance. The contest was Clarke's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ciara Hudson, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds.
Mitchell's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Alliance, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2.
Mitchell will be home for the holidays to greet Morrill at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Morrill is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Alliance, they will face off against Sidney at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sidney will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
