Softball Recap: Teaneck Find Success

Teaneck barely beat Dwight Morrow the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Highwaymen's pitchers stepped up to hand the Maroon Raiders a 19-0 shutout on Friday. The Highwaymen haven't had any issues with the Maroon Raiders recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Olivia Rottner was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Olivia Squitieri was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. MonaLisa Garcia was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4.

Teaneck always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .794. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Teaneck's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Dwight Morrow, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Teaneck will face off against Pascack Valley at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Dwight Morrow, they will square off against Hackensack at 10:00 a.m. on Monday.
