The La Grange Leopards scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat El Campo 69-22 at home. Given La Grange's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 612th, while El Campo is ranked 1406th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
La Grange's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landri Hernandez, who scored 21 points along with six steals. The game was Hernandez's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Campbell Cooper, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
La Grange is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for El Campo, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-12.
La Grange will be home for the holidays to greet Smithville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. El Campo is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Sealy at 12:00 p.m. on December 19th.
