Camarillo moved up to 124 from 167 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Pacific View. The Scorpions were able to make the jump by beating Oak Park 43-14.
Camarillo took down the Eagles 43-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Travis Valdez threw for 328 yards and five touchdowns and ran for eight yards in the win.
Phillip Pizzo was the best wideout in the league this week as Dennis Riedmiller's team topped Oak Park. Pizzo racked up six receptions for 137 yards. Corbin Covey helped Camarillo's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 65 yards.
Aoese Oto was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 237 yards as Channel Islands bested Terry Shorten's team. Teammate Richard Gray added to the ground attack by rushing for 46 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback Adan Salas of Hueneme is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1660. He has also thrown 15 touchdowns. On the ground, Oxnard's Adam Espinosa has rushed for 639 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Covey. The Camarillo star has 64 catches for 602 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Camarillo takes on the Yellowjackets. The Scorpions are currently in first, while Oxnard is in third.
Camarillo led the league in scoring this week after putting up 43 points on the Eagles. Valdez in the win.
