Softball Recap: Southeast Extends Winning Streak to Three

Southeast waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the United Golden Eagles 12-1. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 11 runs or more this season.

Lilly Hayes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Hayes was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Southeast got a massive performance out of Bailey Morris, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Neena Truex also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Southeast was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .370 or higher in five consecutive games.

Southeast pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for United, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-4.

Southeast and United should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Pirates (ranked 161st) will meet Newton Falls (ranked 437th) at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, United will take on Leetonia at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (156 vs. 685).
